Derek Reisinger, son of Tamara and Mark Reisinger of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and grandson of Shirley Logue and the late Bud Logue of Hagerstown, recently received the Eagle Scout award, the highest achievement in Scouting.

Derek is a senior at Cumberland Valley High School, where he is on the varsity soccer team and is a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He is a member of Troop 196 in Mechanicsburg, where he has held numerous leadership positions, including librarian troop guide and patrol leader. He was elected to the Order of the Arrow, Scouting's honor society, in 2003. His scouting career began in 1997 with Cub Pack 296, where he earned the Arrow of Light award, Cub Scouting's highest achievement.

For his Eagle Scout project, Derek designed and constructed a "Celebration of Life and Memorial Garden" at Country Meadows Living Center, an assisted living and dementia facility in Mechanicsburg, in memory of his paternal grandmother and as a tribute to residents of the facility.
