DNR to host a living history program at fort

September 28, 2007

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service, will host a special living history program featuring "Joshua Beall's Company of the Maryland Forces," this weekend.

The "Garrison Weekend" will feature volunteers who will demonstrate the life of soldiers at Fort Frederick during the French and Indian War.

Musket-firing demonstrations, drill presentations, and programs explaining the daily life and routine of soldiers at Fort Frederick will be presented throughout the weekend. Times for the program are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There is a service charge for this event. Disabled access is available, but most of the activities are situated on grassy areas that might present difficult rolls or walks. Food, gift and souvenir items will be available for sale at Captain Wort's Sutlery.
