The Community Foundation of Washington County, MD Inc. is accepting applications for the 2008 granting cycle, according to a foundation press release.
Based on the results of a community-wide needs assessment survey, the grants will be used to support programs and activities addressing the strength, safety and security of families in Washington County, with an emphasis on programs that address the areas of child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, gang activity and teen pregnancy, according to the release.
Applications should identify and address current problems as well as the underlying conditions contributing to these issues that might be described as root causes, according to the release.
Programs intended to address such root causes could include parenting skills, counseling, prevention, mentoring, family structure and support. Capital equipment related to such programming also may be considered.
