Man remains held on rape charge

September 25, 2007

A Hagerstown man was charged Friday with raping a 13-year-old girl earlier this month, according to Washington County District Court documents.

John Allen Quebedeaux, 34, of 11104 Mountain View Circle, was charged with second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree sex offense, third-degree sex offense, sexually abusing a minor and second-degree assault in connection with the Sept. 9 incident, according to court documents.

The girl, who is not related to Quebedeaux, told a Child Advocacy Center worker she had woken up from a nap to find Quebedeaux having intercourse with her, a Washington County Sheriff's Department investigator stated in charging documents.

Quebedeaux's $250,000 bail requirement was continued at a hearing Monday, and he was being held at the Washington County Detention Center. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 17 in District Court.
