INWOOD, W.Va. - A homeowner on Henshaw Road in southern Berkeley County, W.Va., heard a loud crash along the road early Sunday after police called off a pursuit on the road, police said.
When officers arrived at the crash scene, they discovered it was a truck they had been pursuing, police said.
The driver of the truck, Christopher Cleavenger, 30, of 107 Mimosa Drive, Stephens City, Va., was charged with felony fleeing while DUI, fleeing in a motor vehicle and fleeing on foot, according to a news release from the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.
There was a second passenger, but the release did not contain more information about that person.
Cleavenger was taken to City Hospital and later released, the release said.
The crash occurred after Deputies M.T. Longerbeam and X. Morales responded to a fight at Haranda mobile home park off Arden Nollville Road.
A truck left the scene and almost struck Longerbeam's cruiser head-on, police said.
