September 24, 2007

Five North Hagerstown High School students were injured when a school bus driving them back from a soccer game was involved in an accident Saturday night, Hagerstown Police said.

George Reichert IV, 21, of Winter Street in Hagerstown, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to control his speed in connection with the accident, police said.

The bus was stopped on Burhans Boulevard at Franklin Street with an SUV behind it at about 11 p.m. when a Pontiac, driven by Reichert, rear-ended the SUV, sending it into the bus, police said.

The five students were taken to Washington County Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No further information on their condition was available Sunday evening.
