Kiwanis Club to sell roses

September 21, 2007

The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown is selling roses again this fall to raise money for its various community projects and scholarships. Kiwanis Rose Day is Thursday, Oct. 25.

Each year, the Kiwanis Club sells boxed long-stemmed roses to raise money to fund children's programs in Washington County. In 2007, this sale funded activities at Girls Inc., Boys & Girls Club of Washington County, Mason-Dixon Council Boy Scouts, Federal Little League and Good Citizens programs at Bester and Winter Street elementary schools, along with a reading program at Fountaindale Elementary School. In addition, more than $5,000 in scholarships were awarded to high school seniors.

Roses ordered by e-mail must specify color. Let the club know who they are going to, and where the person ordering them will be on Oct. 25, and club members will deliver them.

Roses cost $15 a dozen. The club can accept orders right up to Oct. 25. Payment is due on delivery, unless other arrangements are made. To order roses, call 301-739-9325 for phone orders and you will receive a call back to confirm or e-mail fnugent@verizon.net.
