York Tech still the cure for James Buchanan's woes

YORK, Pa. - James Buchanan won one game last year, defeating York Tech.

This year, JB's first win came against York Tech, as the Rockets (1-2) blasted off to a 35-0 victory on Saturday.

Alex Buterbaugh opened the scoring with a 4-yard run in the first period and Jesse Smartt followed a pair of touchdown passes to James Hall in the second period, covering 12 and 15 yards.

Buterbaugh added a 45-yard TD in the third period that contributed to his 143-yard rushing effort on 21 tries.

Deshane Rogers finished the scoring with a 6-yard run in the final quarter.

Mercersburg 14, St. Albans 12

WASHINGTON - Ben Eaton had a big game on both sides of the ball as Mercersburg Academy won for the first time since 2005.


Eaton rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown and had 10 tackles on defense.

A.J. Firestone had seven tackles, a sack, an interception and a blocked extra-point attempt for the Blue Storm (1-1).
