Beulah M. Burkholder, 87

DEC. 12, 1919-SEPT. 14, 2007

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Beulah M. Statler Burkholder, 87, Greencastle, Pa., was called home to be with her Lord on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Dec. 12, 1919, in Marion, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Percy P. and Mary Elizabeth Small Statler.

She and her husband of 69 years, Glenn S. Burkholder, were married April 16, 1938, in Hagerstown, Md. They lived at their present home for 51 years and in the Coseytown, Pa. and Mason-Dixon, Pa. areas early in their marriage.


Beulah was employed by Greencastle-Antrim School District as a cafeteria worker for 20 years, but the love of her life was caring for her beloved family. She enjoyed embroidery and was especially known for her hand-smocked baby dresses. A member of Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Pa., she loved working with the babies and toddlers in the nursery.

Along with her husband, she is survived by daughter, Ruby E. Peterson (wife of Ray) of Greencastle; son, Charles Leon Burkholder (husband of Lois) of Rockaway Beach, Mo.; and sisters, Betty Walter of Greencastle and Judy Williams of Frederick, Md. Also surviving are grandchildren, Joy Geiman, Jonathan, Joel, James and Julie Peterson, Eastlyn Burkholder and Genie Vaughn; as well as great-grandchildren, Daniel, Elizabeth, Andrew, Matthew, Lauren, Joshua, Conner, Courtney, Sarah, Hannah, Rachel, Nadine, Lane, Jacob, Benjamin and Nathan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gene Statler Burkholder; granddaughter, Andrea Jo Peterson; great-grandson, David S. Geiman; and siblings, Vera Ferren, Catherine Hicks, Harry Statler, Eugene Statler, Janet Garber and Patsy Brechbiel.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, with the Rev. John Huff officiating. Burial will follow in Broadfording Cemetery, Hagerstown, Md. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday and for one hour prior to the services Monday at the funeral home.

Jack N. Trovinger, 87

Jack Norwood Trovinger, 87, of 19800 Tranquility Circle, Hagerstown, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Ravenwood Nursing Home.

Born March 12, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John J. and Nora Alice Miner Trovinger.

He was employed by Pangborn Corporation for 43 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he had been an usher.

He and his wife were co-editors of Eagle Wings.

He was a member and former secretary of First Hagerstown Hose Fire Co., a member of B.P.O. Elks 378 and a member and former secretary of Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Elizabeth Trovinger; two nieces; one nephew; two grandnephews; and three great-grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold C. Trovinger.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Beatrice A. Bowman, 79

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Beatrice A. Bowman, 79, of 4660 Sycamore Grove Road, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Feb. 15, 1928, in Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George F. and Grace Newell Flory.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne L. Bowman, whom she married April 3, 1948; four daughters, Barbara A. Bowman of Grantville, Pa., Fay Y. Friel of Waynesboro, Pa., and Kathy J. Doyle and Shari L. Neady, both of Chambersburg; one son, Ronald W. Bowman of Chambersburg; two sisters, Doris Bard of Fayetteville, Pa. and Ruth Bennett of Chambersburg; one brother, Garnet Flory of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Sarah C. Robson, 94

QUINCY, Pa. - Sarah C. "Corny" Cornelius Robson, 94, of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 12106 Bayer Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at the nursing home.

Born Dec. 31, 1912, in Davis, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Percy and Mabel Coffman Cornelius.
