Pa. woman charged in accident where woman struck by car

A Shippensburg, Pa., woman faces charges in Washington County Circuit Court after police say she hit a woman with her car during an argument at the Hagerstown Treatment Center in August.

Elizabeth Ann Johnston, 20, of 117 Rustic Drive, waived her preliminary hearing in district court Thursday.

Witnesses at the treatment center Aug. 17 said Johnston struck a woman with her Dodge Neon, causing the woman to flip onto the hood and off the driver's side of the car, then proceeded to hit another car as she was driving away, according to charging documents.

Johnston was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended out-of-state license, failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, reckless driving and failure to control vehicle speed to avoid collision.
