HAGERSTOWN - Several prospective home buyers meandered through the Mount Prospect gated condominium community at 37 S. Prospect St. in Hagerstown during an open house Wednesday.

Edward "Skip" Tovornik Jr., president of CHS Development Property Management of Frederick, Md., said Mount Prospect has 13 luxury condominiums that range in price from roughly $180,000 to $240,000.

Tovornik said eight of the 13 units are complete.

Four of the condominiums have been sold, he said.

According to CHS's Web site, Mount Prospect offers one-, two- and three-bedroom units.

The building was constructed in the late 1800s, said Billy Shreve, a Realtor associated with the project.

He said the historical integrity of the structure was maintained as workers renovated everything from the wood floors to the ceilings.

Modern amenities like central air and heating were added, Shreve said. And each unit, which averages about 1,000 square feet, comes with new appliances, including a refrigerator, oven, and washer and dryer.

"All you have to do is move in," he said. "Everything is custom grade."

As Tovornik showed balconies attached to the upstairs units that provide views of downtown Hagerstown, he said construction of Mount Prospect was paid for using private funds.

Tovornik said gated entrances that lead to the front of the building and off-street parking in the rear will provide a more secure environment for the prospective occupants.

Renovations on the building started in December.
