September 13, 2007

Police seized almost 30 pounds of suspected marijuana Wednesday night following a traffic stop on Interstate 81 south near Interstate 70, the Maryland State Police said.

Troopers stopped a GMC Envoy driven by a New York man for traffic and equipment violations.

A state police K-9 unit alerted to the possible presence of drugs inside the vehicle and officers who searched found a large bale of marijuana, troopers alleged in a news release.

Reginald Vaughn Bly, of Bronx, N.Y., was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and importing marijuana into the state, troopers said.

The marijuana troopers found in the vehicle has an estimated street value of $34,000, police said.

Bly was being held this morning at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $75,000 bond, a deputy said.
