Army chaplain to speak in Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The annual service of remembrance for those who died Sept. 11 will be today at 4 p.m. at the Letterkenny Chapel at Letterkenny Army Depot.

The speaker will be Col. Philip A. Mahalic, a U.S. Army chaplain who recently returned from Afghanistan and Iraq and is assigned to the Carlisle (Pa.) War College. He also has spent time in Kuwait and Qatar.

Music for the service will be provided by Joan Sachs and soloist Martin Wenger.

Charles F. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 will present the colors and lead military honors in front of the chapel as the service concludes.

The service is sponsored by the United Churches of the Chambersburg Area.

Service scheduled at City Council chamber

The City of Hagerstown will hold a Sept. 11 remembrance service Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the city council chamber.


The public is invited to attend, and the service will be broadcast live on Antietam Cable Channel 6.

Remembrance parade slated in Boonsboro

BOONSBORO - The First Hose Co. of Boonsboro will hold its annual Sept. 11 remembrance parade Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The parade will be on Main Street.

Ministerial group looks at 9/11 impact

FREDERICK, Md. - A look back at the impact of the events of Sept. 11 on individual lives and the lives of faith communities will be addressed Tuesday during a meeting of the Frederick Area Ministerial Association (FAMA).

The meeting will begin with lunch at noon. It will be at First Missionary Baptist Church at 899 Swallowtail Drive.

The association meets on the second Tuesday of each month at different churches in the area to provide fellowship, inspiration, cooperative planning and sharing of ideas on ministry.
