Woman faces drug charges in Frederick



FREDERICK, Md. - A woman was charged with drug crimes Saturday after officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation, the Frederick Police Department said.

Officers used a police K-9 to search the vehicle, and found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police alleged in a news release.

Penny Lou Tressler, 48, no known address, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of paraphernalia, a Frederick County District Court Commissioner said this morning. Tressler was released on personal recognizance, the commissioner said.




Man robs motel in Chambersburg



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A man robbed the Super 8 Motel at 3648 Old Scotland Rd. at knifepoint Sunday night, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The man entered the hotel around 9 p.m., jumped the counter and took money from the register before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police had no other information Monday.




Pa. police looking into home burglary



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a burglary that took place over the weekend in the 800 block of Buchanan Trail East.

Someone broke into the home by breaking a window in a side entrance door, police said. A DVD player, a camcorder, a silver and gold ring and a large amount of loose change were reported stolen. The total value of property stolen and damaged was estimated at $525.

Cat reported burned at Pa. home



MERCERSBURG, Pa. - A Mercersburg man reported that someone burned his cat with fire at his home in the 12200 block of Garnes Road Aug. 22 before fleeing the scene.

The incident took place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., police said. The cat was 25 years old.




Backpacks, pistol stolen from Pa. home



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a burglary that took place in the 4900 block of Byers Road at some point this summer.

Someone broke in by cutting the clasps of locks and stole two large backpacks and a 9 mm pistol, then fled the scene, police said. The property stolen and damaged was valued at $450.
