August 26, 2007

A man was charged with robbery and other crimes in connection with a robbery Friday afternoon at Fidelity Bank at 17708 Virginia Ave., according to a Washington County Sheriff's Department press release.

Chay Francis Jackson, 32, no known address, was charged with robbery, felony theft and second-degree assault, deputies said.

Jackson was taken into custody Friday night at Motel 6 on Massey Boulevard, Sgt. Roy Harsh said Friday night. Some of the money taken in the robbery was recovered, he said.

On Friday about 1 p.m., the robber handed a note to a bank teller that said no one would get hurt if the employees cooperated, Harsh said.

No weapon was involved, and no one was injured, Harsh said.

The man left the bank on foot with an unknown amount of money, and was seen at Food Lion near the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Halfway Boulevard.
