August 25, 2007

A man suspected of robbing Fidelity Bank at 17708 Virginia Ave. Friday afternoon was in custody Friday night, according to Sgt. Roy Harsh of the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

The man was taken into custody without incident at Motel 6 near Valley Mall. Harsh said the man was not immediately charged.

Some of the money was recovered, Harsh said.

The bank was robbed about 1 p.m., Harsh said. No weapon was involved, and no one was injured.

The man handed a note to a bank teller that said no one would get hurt if the employees cooperated, Harsh said.

The man left the bank on foot with an unknown amount of money, and was seen at Food Lion near the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Halfway Boulevard.
