Williamsport Days

The C&O Canal National Historical Park and the town of Williamsport will host the annual Williamsport Days. Activities at Cushwa Basin include musical performances, storytelling, exhibits at the trolley barn and Lockhouse 44, and model railroad displays. Activities at Byron Memorial Park include a craft fair, food, music and raffles. Junior Ranger activities for ages 5 to 12 will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cushwa Basin. A classic car cruise-in from West Potomac Street to Cushwa Basin will be Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Events also will be held both days at Springfield Barn. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free. Spud Fest

Potatoes planted in the spring will be harvested by horse-drawn plow, and children and families are encouraged to help gather the harvest. Prizes will be awarded to children for the most potatoes collected, largest potato, smallest potato and most unusually shaped potato. The harvested potatoes will be used to make homemade potato chips for participants. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Washington County Rural Heritage Museum, Sharpsburg Pike, south of Hagerstown. Explore German culture and folklore through music and dance, including performances by Die Schlauberger, the Heidi and Heimat Echo with Alp-horns and Alt Washingtonia Schuhplattler Verein. German foods and beverages will be sold. Jazz festival

The 16th annual Renfrew Jazz Festival will feature a trumpet summit with Brian Lynch and Ingrid Jensen. Also scheduled to perform are guitarist Paul Bollenback, bassist Ugonna Okegwo and drummer Jon Wikan. Sponsored by Renfrew Institute for Cultural and Environmental Studies.
