Pa. police investigating armed robbery

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an armed robbery at Choice Cigarette Discount Outlet at 975 Lincoln Way West.

At about 10 p.m. Thursday, a man entered the store and pointed a handgun at the lone employee inside, demanding money, police said. After getting the money, the man fled the store.

The employee described the robber as a white male, about 5-foot-8, with a slim build, wearing dark pants, white sneakers and a dark gray or black pullover hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Car reported stolen from Pa. home

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg police were investigating the theft of a car that occurred between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 5:30 a.m. Thursday.


Police said the silver 1990 Honda Accord was stolen from the driveway of Paul A. Crighton of 528 Stanley Ave. The car has a tinted rear window with some missing from the upper right corner, and low-profile tires.

Sheriff's deputiesrespond to calls

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following calls, according to Lt. Mark Knight:


· 4:30 p.m., $1,500 worth of copper tubing was reported stolen in the 1400 block of Sherman Ave.

· At 7 p.m., tires were reported slashed on a Ford truck in the 12000 block of Smithfield Farm Lane.

· At 10 p.m., a 2007 Toyota Camry was reported keyed in the 12000 block of Maple Road.


· 6:30 a.m., $1,000 worth of hand tools and power tools were reported stolen from a GMC pickup truck at the Williamsport water tower on Conococheague Street.
