Turf trouble sends 'Dogs on road to open

August 21, 2007

Artificial turf installation at Martinsburg High School will not be completed in time for the Bulldogs to play their season-opening varsity football game at home Friday against Morgantown as originally scheduled.

The Bulldogs were set to play at Cobourn Field, but the game instead will be played at Pony Lewis Field in Morgantown at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Martinsburg played a scheduled home girls soccer match at Musselman on Saturday and today's boys soccer opener against St. Maria Goretti has been rescheduled for Sept. 27.

Turf installers have reassured school administration that the field will be ready for Martinsburg's game against Potomac Falls on Aug. 31, according to a press release issued by the school.
