The issue: Washington County Health System has been trying to build a new hospital on Robinwood Drive. A lawsuit by five residents challenging two county zoning variances for the project reached the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.

What happened: In a decision filed Monday, the Court of Special Appeals affirmed the decision of a Washington County Circuit judge who upheld the variances.

What's next Washington County Health System will rebid the project and get a new cost analysis in hopes of starting construction in the fall. However, it was unclear Monday whether the group of residents would appeal the decision to the Court of Appeals, the state's highest court.
