"Calling about the ice rink. Obviously, it's only a small, select - our community didn't support it so well, so obviously this is the wrong community for it. Hagerstown is growing - yes, it is, but ice rink, do away with it. My kids enjoy me putting a Slip 'n Slide on a hill and they slide down the Slip 'n Slide down the hill, but if they had a Slip 'n Slide park around here and my kids were part of the select small group and they were gonna close the Slip 'n Slide park, I'd say, well, obviously not enough people support it, so we're gonna miss the old Slip 'n Slide park. The people that do the traveling with the hockey, travel to Frederick and do it. You got traveling teams. All your games aren't home games, so travel to do hockey. Take your kids where they like to do it - Frederick. For the people that say they want to run the ice rink, they grew up around ice rinks, they didn't grow up around here, so travel back to where you grew up and support the community where you came from."

"I'm reading in your (You Said It) about the grandparent who's a little upset about elementary school students having to buy their supplies and then be used by other children. My understanding is that a lot of times there are a lot of students who don't bring in supplies, and they are supplied by their family service unit. Also, it stated that the daughter-in-law gets money to buy supplies for her classroom. All teachers do get money, but if you figure $200, and you have 25 students, that doesn't go very far when you need supplies for your classroom."

"Boy, what a change of opinion. When ex-governor Ehrlich wanted slots to help keep our taxes down in Maryland, the Democrats voted 'no.' Now that we have a Democrat for governor, all of a sudden Martin O'Malley is paying to have slots checked out in Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia, to see how much of our Maryland money is going to these states for horse racing and slots. Even if Maryland gets it, my money will still go to West Virginia. Bring Ehrlich back next election. We had a surplus when he left office. Look at the deficit we have now."
