Children hit Kings Dominion

August 17, 2007

On Saturday, Aug. 4, sweltering temperatures didn't deter Hagerstown youths who were looking forward to riding the waves at Kings Dominion, the amusement park near Richmond, Va.

It was all part of the annual For Our Kids Sake trip, organized each year by Dot Bell and Clara Broadus.

Bell said there were three buses and two cars following the bus this year. She said the day started with a continental breakfast, compliments of Krumpe's Do-Nut Shop on Maryland Avenue. Children also received cookies from Sanders Cookie Jar on Pennsylvania Avenue, and B.P. Lesky Distributors on Western Maryland Parkway provided water to keep cool in the heat.

"We didn't run out of water, but we didn't have any left either," Bell said.

Bell and Broadus would like to personally thank all who contributed to the success of this year's trip - the corporate sponsors as well as the individual donations received from the community.

If you are interested in helping in this endeavor, donations can still be received at any Hagerstown Trust Co. Funds collected now will be used for next year's bus trip.
