From the principal

Q. What are your goals for the school year?

A. The goals for the 2007-08 school year will focus on increased student achievement, continued development of Williamsport Elementary School as a unified leaning community and expanded instructional opportunities for students and staff through the Mathematics, Science and Technology magnet program.

Q. What will help ensure a successful school year?

A. It is the expectation at Williamsport Elementary that all students will learn and that student achievement is the foundation for all decisions. In order to promote student learning, it is essential that parents and the community are involved as partners in the education of the students at WES. To this end, Williamsport Elementary will continue to promote parent involvement and parent education. Newsletters, informational pamphlets, development of a school Web page, regular classroom communication with parents, involvement in community activities and projects, and an open-door policy for visitors will support WES in this endeavor. Communication with all stakeholders will be continually reviewed in order to assure that information that is provided is timely and accurate.

Q. Can students and staff expect any changes this school year?

A. The staff and the PTA have been working over the summer to plan for this coming school year. There are several new programs and after-school events that will be available this year. Information about upcoming events and clubs will be shared through the monthly newsletter and the Web site. Our school Web page has been updated and includes useful information about the school, including upcoming events, supply lists, a calendar of events, the school lunch menu, student recognition, PTA information, classroom Web page links, parent links and general school information.

Q. What message would you like to send as the school year begins?

A. Williamsport Elementary remains steadfast to meeting the needs of all students. Through professional development for staff, involvement of parents and the community, and continual focus on individual students' strengths and needs, Williamsport Elementary will exemplify a World-Class School within a World-Class System.
