From the principal

Q. What are your goals for the school year?

A. I want to build upon the successes our school has experienced from this past school year. We improved our overall MSA test scores in reading and mathematics at all tested grade levels. My goal is the continuation of an effective, efficient and safe learning and working environment for our students and staff, with high expectations for student achievement as our main instructional focus.

Q. What will help ensure a successful school year?

A. Effective home-school communication will be the key in ensuring a successful school year for students, staff, stakeholders and parents.

Q. Can students and staff expect any changes this school year?

A. One major change for Fountain Rock this year is the addition of a part-time school counselor to our staff. The counselor will assist students, families and staff members with any issues that can potentially impact student learning in a negative way. Another change will be the use of the gym as a cafeteria. Students have been eating lunch in their classrooms since the school opened, so modifications to the master schedule and the serving line have been made so that this change can occur.

Q. What message would you like to send as the school year begins?

A. I am looking forward to my second year as principal at Fountain Rock. I believe that students learn best when the entire school community focuses their collective efforts on clearly establishing and maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment.
