City Council OKs contract to widen Eastern Boulevard

The Hagerstown City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a $3.79 million contract to widen Eastern Boulevard.

The contract is with Craig Paving Inc.

The council also voted to allocate $4.4 million for the project to cover additional costs.

Construction plans include widening a portion of Eastern Boulevard between Conrad Court and Jefferson Boulevard to four lanes, with two lanes in each direction, according to documents provided to the council.

Turning lanes at major street intersections, the installation of a modified traffic signal at Opal Court and other items also are included.
