"I was wondering if they have a cookbook out - I noticed all the entries they had down at the Ag Center for the cooking and the baking and everything, and if they don't, it would be a good idea to make a cookbook with all those, because they had a lot of winners down there, and I'm sure a lot of people everywhere would be interested in buying one of the cookbooks. If anyone knows anything about it, please put it in Mail Call."

"I just want to let your readers know that we were in Lancaster on Thursday, and gas was $2.61. When we were leaving Friday, we filled up again, because the gas had dropped to $2.59. So I just thought your readers would like to know."

"If you have to smoke, that's one thing - that's your business - but you should be given a ticket for littering if you flick your cigarette out the window when you're driving."

"Before closing the Hagers-town Ice and Sports Complex for good, a few things should be considered. Where else can our teenagers go in the evening to meet with friends and have clean, safe fun? Would we rather have them out on the Dual Highway, hanging out in parking lots or wandering the mall? Where can a family go weekly and have fun without spending a lot of money? The HISC was constructed for recreation. We have plenty of ballfields, soccer fields, basketball facilities, but only one ice rink. The next closest ice rink is Frederick. The families that don't participate in ball sports need a place to go to. I'm ashamed of our City Council for just shutting the doors cold turkey. A plan for new management should (have) been in the works and changed hands without a disruption in operations. How do you expect the HISC to make any money for the 2007-08 year when it is still closed?"

"I finally watched some of that movie, 'An Inconvenient Truth,' by Al Gore. I had to sit there and laugh, because this is politically motivated nonsense. I used to watch those types of films, and I learned that information when I was in elementary school back in the late '50s and early '60s. This environmental thing has just been blown out of proportion, but like everything else in this country, it's politically motivated by special interest groups."
