Williamsport Days to feature food, fun

WILLIAMSPORT - The annual Williamsport Days festival will be Aug. 25 and 26.

The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Byron Memorial Park and the Cushwa Basin.

The Town of Williamsport will host a craft fair, food, music, raffles and antique car show at Byron Memorial Park and in town.

Highlights at the Cushwa Basin include Junior Ranger Day activities for children ages 5 to 12 featuring a scavenger hunt, "Paint Your Own Canal," "Meet the Mule" and "Be a Locktender."

Children completing activities will receive a commemorative certificate and badge at a special swearing-in ceremony.

Musical performances will include folk music by Kate Evans, Appalachian Mountain music by Mary Dailey and songs and stories of the C&O Canal with Matthew Dodd.


Both the Trolley Barn and Lockhouse 44 will be open with special exhibits on the canal, slide shows, storytelling and model railroad displays.

Trolley service will be available for $1 per ride for visitors to travel back and forth between the Cushwa Basin and Byron Memorial Park.

The C&O Canal also will be celebrating the 91st anniversary of the founding of the National Park Service (Aug. 25) in conjunction with the event.
