Fire reported at former Fort Ritchie Army base



CASCADE - Smithsburg firefighters responded to a fire at a multifamily home structure this morning at 760 Cushman Ave. in the area of the former Fort Ritchie Army base, an emergency services dispatcher said.

No injuries were reported, she said.

Units from Franklin County, Pa., also responded.

The fire had been put out by about 9 a.m., she said.




Deputies seek missing teen



Deputies this morning were searching for a teenager who was reported missing from the Cedar Ridge juvenile home Monday, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

John Delonta Johnson, 15, was described as black, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 193 pounds, deputies said in a news release.

Johnson was visiting his mother in Washington, D.C., and was supposed to meet a Cedar Ridge staff member at a bus station there Monday, but never arrived, deputies said.

Sheriff's deputies respond to calls



The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following calls, according to Lt. Mark Knight:

Today

· At midnight, a breaking and entering was reported in the 18800 block of Eliason Way. Accessories for a Nintendo Wii game were stolen.

Tuesday

· At 7 a.m., theft was reported in the 19100 block of Keep Tryst Road. A 4-wheeler was stolen.

· At 7:30 a.m., theft was reported in the 19100 block of Cherry Tree Drive. Items were taken from a Dodge van.

· At 8:30 a.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 13200 block of Glendale Drive. A Volks-wagen Jetta was broken into and a Sprint cell phone was taken.

· At 8:30 a.m., theft was reported in the 12800 block of Fountain Head Road. A lavender Murray bicycle with a basket and white tires was stolen.

· At 9 a.m., theft was reported in the 20100 block of West Stone Court. About $400 worth of copper was stolen from a construction site.

· At 11:30 a.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 13300 block of Briarcliff Drive.

· At 8 p.m., theft was reported at the Hagerstown Cinemas, 20135 Leitersburg Pike. A MP3 player was stolen.

· At 9 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 12800 block of The Terrace. A pair of basketball shoes was stolen from a Jeep Wrangler.
