Smith wins at Hagerstown Speedway

Brent Smith was hard at it and using the long way around Hagerstown Speedway from the drop of the green flag until the checkered waved. The efforts paid off for the Mercersburg, Pa., veteran with his second Cindy Rowe Auto Glass late model victory Saturday night.

Smith was in contention for the win the entire distance. He started fourth, took the lead following a 360-degree spin by D.J. Troutman on the 19th circuit and won by 10 lengths.

Jamie Lathroum took over the runner-up spot from Bo Feathers at the white flag. Feathers settled for third, Alan Sagi was fourth and Gary Stuhler fifth.

In other racing Saturday, the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic late model sportsman and Ernie's Auto Enterprises pure stock events were both shortened due to time and other circumstances. Kyle Lear of Severn, Md., drove to his career first victory in the sportsman event, while Drew Fitzsimmons of Boonsboro also was in victory lane for the first time in the pure stock feature. Bobby Moore, also of Severn, took over on Lap 8 of the 30-lap Enduro dash and posted the win.
