Tourists top Suns

August 10, 2007

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Asheville's three home runs, and seven strong innings from starter Esmil Rogers, were enough as the Tourists defeated Hagerstown, 6-1.

The Tourists scored a run in each of the first three innings off Suns starter Jeff Mandel (2-5), including Matt Repec's solo shot in the third.

Joe Napoli scored on a John Poppert single in the fourth to provide the only Hagerstown run of the game.

Solo homers by Geoff Strickland in the seventh and Michael McKenry in the eighth against the Hagerstown bullpen served as insurance for the Tourists.

Francisco Plasencia led the Suns with two hits. Mandel lasted five innings in the loss, allowing six hits, two walks and striking out nine.
