Hancock town officials consider recycling

August 10, 2007

HANCOCK - Hancock officials are looking into offering recycling at upcoming events, and eventually at a central location in town.

Mayor Daniel A. Murphy said he would like to encourage recycling. Curbside recycling is expensive for residents, but a bin could be placed somewhere in town. Smaller bins also could be available at town events.

Town Manager David D. Smith said he will look into a type of bin that could be used for town gatherings. Town council members said they would think about possible places in town for the larger collection site.

Norma Emery, a Washington County resident, spoke during the meeting and offered some proposals for the town council about recycling.
