Tourists blank Suns

August 09, 2007

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Hagerstown Suns were forced to knuckle under on Wednesday.

The Suns couldn't find a net to corral Simon Ferrer's knuckleball while being shut out on four hits in a 6-0 loss to the Asheville Tourists to open an eight-game southern road trip.

Ferrer pitched six innings, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out seven.

The Tourists scored a run in the second and five in the fifth, all off starter Erik Arnesen (5-6). Three of the runs were unearned, coming off Mike Martinez's 28th error.

Francisco Plasencia had two of the Suns' four hits.
