Town might have new site for its recycling bin

August 07, 2007|By ERIN CUNNINGHAM

BOONSBORO - About one month after eliminating its recycling bin behind GESAC Inc., the Boonsboro Town Council said it might have a new site for the commingled items.

Town Manager Debra A. Smith said the bin could be moved to the town farm, near the area where yard debris is collected.

A group is meeting next week to discuss that possibility and others before making a final decision, Smith said.

The bin was moved from the area behind GESAC Inc. on Orchard Drive because town council said the area was littered with garbage, furniture, televisions and other nonrecyclable items that were being left near the site.

Smith said the area on the town farm will be monitored and also is enclosed by a fence.

"We need to be more vigilant," she said.
