Suns split with Drive

August 07, 2007

After committing seven errors in a 7-3 loss to Greensville, the Hagerstown Suns capitalized on a pair of Drive miscues to win the nightcap 3-2 in a doubleheader split Monday night at Municipal Stadium.

Each game lasted seven innings.

In the nightcap, the Suns took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Jhonatan Solano scored from third on a fielding error.

Another Greenville error gave the Suns an extra out in the third, and they capitalized. Joe Napoli's two-out, two-run double made it a 3-0 game.

Suns starter Jhonny Nunez (4-6) allowed two runs in his fifth and final inning of work. Yader Peralta pitched two scoreless innings for his second save.

In the opener, Greenville trailed 3-2 before rallying for five runs - all unearned - off Suns closer Josh Wilkie (3-6) in the seventh.

Hagerstown committed two errors in the inning, which was highlighted by a three-run homer by Greenville's Jonathan Egan.

The Suns took a 2-0 lead in the fifth on an RBI double by Robert Jacobsen and an RBI single by Michael Martinez.

The Suns broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth as Marcos Cabral doubled and scored on a single by Solano.
