GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Lela Maude Shatzer Mackey, 94, who lived with her caregiver and great-granddaughter, Stacey Newcomer, of 13460 Ridge Road, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at Manorcare in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Dec. 29, 1912, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late David C. and Effa Detrich Shatzer.

She was employed for 39 years by the former Stanley Co., retiring in 1978.

She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church and the Buds of Promise Sunday School Class.

She was a member of the VFW, Loyal Order of Moose and American Legion Post 46 auxiliaries and The Improved Order of Red Men of Williamsport.

She is survived by two granddaughters, Carolyn Mellott of Greencastle and Connie Ott of Chambersburg; four great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Harold Statler; one sister; and two brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.


Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
