Fire damages trailers, roof at W.Va. business

August 05, 2007

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Two storage trailers and the tin roof of a building were damaged early Saturday in a fire at a Martinsburg business, the captain of the Martinsburg Fire Department said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 2:01 a.m. to Concrete Products Co. at 300 Mall Drive, according to Capt. S.W. Stroop.

Though the fire was at the back of the property, Stroop said it "was rather visible" from the road when he and other firefighters responded.

Property damage was estimated at $25,000, Stroop said.

"All that was left was the metal (in the unit)," Stroop said.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 5:37 a.m., Stroop said.

The fire remains under investigation.

A voice-mail message left at the business' telephone number was not returned Saturday.
