Drive run over Suns

August 05, 2007

Paul Smyth had four hits and Josh Reddick drove in three runs Saturday to lead the Greenville Drive to a 17-8 victory over the Hagerstown Suns.

The Suns got two home runs and four RBIs from Francisco Plasencia and scored four times in the ninth but it wasn't enough to overcome an early 8-0 deficit.

Joe Napoli also hit his 11th homer for the Suns (42-67, 13-29).

Greenville roughed up the Suns' Aaron Jackson, who was making his first start in 35 appearances this season. Jackson lasted three innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on six hits.

The Drive scored three in the third and five in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead.

Plasencia had an RBI double in the fourth and homered, along with Napoli, in the sixth as the Suns moved to within 9-4.
