W.Va. man charged in June burglary



A Martinsburg, W.Va., man was arrested Thursday in connection with a burglary that occurred in June, according to a press release from the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Gideon Eugene Elliott Jr., 22, of 826 Nipetown Road in Martinsburg, was charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of theft, malicious destruction of property and illegal possession of a firearm, police said.

Elliott stole about $19,000 worth of property, including tools and firearms, from a house in the 13000 block of Kaiser Ridge Road in Hagerstown on June 11 while the owner was at work, police said.

Elliott was being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $60,000 bond, police said.




Police searching for suspect in robbery



WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - The Exxon in Warfordsburg was robbed Tuesday night by a man armed with a handgun, according to a press release from Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg, Pa.

No one was injured in the robbery, which happened at 9 p.m., according to the release.

The suspect, who was wearing a ski mask and hood, stole an undetermined amount of money from the cash registers after ordering two employees to the floor, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.




Sheriff's Department responds to calls



The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following incidents Thursday, according to Sgt. Roy Harsh:

· At 7:32 a.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 17300 block of Tamarack Drive. A Ford F-250 was broken into, and someone took a GPS system, iPod and a BlackBerry valued at more than $500.

· At 8:07 a.m., theft was reported in the 17300 block of Tamarack Drive. Two vehicles were broken into, and someone took a CD player and several CDs.

· At 8:10 a.m., theft was reported in the 16600 block of Coney Court. Two vehicles were broken into, and DVD players were stolen.

· At 1:44 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported on Nursery Road in Halfway. A window was broken out of a vehicle.

· At 2:20 p.m., breaking and entering was reported at Hub City Builders at 19833 Leitersburg Pike. Wires valued between $15,000 and $18,000 were stolen.

· At 6:57 p.m., theft was reported at the Williamsport Shell at 314 E. Potomac St. A wallet and a watch were stolen.
