DARKESVILLE, W.Va. - Elva Mae "Sissie" Shroades, 98, of Darkesville, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Blue Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Charles Town, W.Va.

Born Dec. 28, 1908 in Ganotown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry D. Masters and Letie Mason Masters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Shroades.

She was formerly employed by Dr. Appleby's office.

She was a member of Darkesville United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women.

She is survived by seven grandchildren, Barbara B. Sanders, Conrad V. Shroades, David F. Shroades, Gregory M. Shroades, Martin W. Shroades, Edgar W. Shroades and Annette G. Marpole; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by one son, Carroll V. Shroades; and two brothers, William Masters and Berkeley Masters.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Darkesville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Vicki Curry will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown (W.Va.) Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at South Berkeley Funeral Chapel in Inwood, W.Va.
