SHARPSBURG - Atlee Hezzie Bussard Sr., 73, of 103 W. High St., Sharpsburg, Md., died Monday, July 30, 2007, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Jan. 29, 1934, in Keedysville, Md., to the late Gardner Franklin Bussard Sr. and Bertha Florence Ferguson Bussard Rice.

He attended Boonsboro schools.

He was employed by Ironworkers Local 568 of Cumberland, Md., as a skilled tradesman until retiring in 1996.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sharpsburg, Md.

He was a member of Sharpsburg Rifles, lifetime member of Sharpsburg Area EMS, lifetime member of Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Co., Antietam Post 236 American Legion of Sharpsburg, Md., Carnival Glass Association of America, Proud active member of the Always Patsy Cline Club and a lifetime member of Ironworkers Local 568, Cumberland, Md.

He is survived by his wife, Ellie Ewan Bussard, married April 18, 1959, for 48 years of Sharpsburg; daughter, Annie M. Parkinson and husband Brian S. of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., and son Matthew &Sparky;" son Cricket Bussard and wife April of Sharpsburg and children Christopher, Zachery, Kaela, Kortnie and Shad; special friend, Bobby Campbell of Sharpsburg; sister, Faye A. Shepard and husband Donald of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Thomas W. Bussard and wife Carolyn and sons Scott and Buzzie of Sharpsburg and daughter Kelly of Atlanta, Ga., brother, Harold L. Bussard and wife Shurl and daughter Christa and son David of Williamsport, Md.; uncle, Ernie Ferguson of Mount Briar, Md.; niece, Kay Mills and husband Bobby and daughters Bobby Jo and Kelly of Sharpsburg, niece, Diane Writt and husband Terry and son Curtis of Glengary, W.Va., niece, LeAnn Bussard and friend Nicole of Hagerstown, Md.; nephew, Gene Bussard and wife Stacy of Wolfsville, Md., nephew, Brian Bussard and daughter Morgan and son Brian Keith of Hagerstown.

He was preceded by his stepfather Russell D. Rice; and two brothers, Gardner E. Bussard Jr. and Merle E. Bussard.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Md., on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Md., Saturday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Richard Hembrock officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. Military graveside services will be provided.
