Suns hold off Augusta

Leonard Davis hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Francisco Plasencia added a solo shot in the third, and the Hagerstown Suns held on to edge the Augusta GreenJackets 3-2 on Tuesday at Municipal Stadium.

Starter Brad Meyers (1-0), making his debut with the Suns, pitched five scoreless innings for the win. He allowed three hits and a walk and had one strikeout.

Augusta scored both of its runs in the sixth on a throwing error by reliever Yader Peralta, who didn't allow a hit in three innings.

Coby Mavroulis and Josh Wilkie combined to pitch a scoreless ninth for the Suns. Wilkie got the final two outs for his sixth save.

Plasencia, who also doubled, had two of Hagerstown's five hits.

Augusta starter Kevin Pucetas (12-3) pitched six innings in the loss.
