Big hair, big actress, big hit

Movie review

"Hairspray" is about fitting in, about teen rivalry, about discrimination. It's also a lot of fun.

Bubbly Tracy (played by Nikki Blonsky), a plus-size teenager, wants to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a hip-swinging, good-time show for teenagers.

But that's not her only goal. She also wants to be with the guy of her dreams, Link (Zac Efron), who is going out with the Corny Collins Show's main star, Amber (Brittany Snow).

Tracy gets her break when there's an audition for the show. But slender Amber makes fun of chubby Tracy, which leads to one theme of "Hairspray" - prejudice.

"Hairspray" is a good, exciting movie full of great dancing, beautiful songs and lots of fun. It also has many high-profile actors such as John Travolta, who plays Tracy's plus-size mom, Edna, and Christopher Walken, who plays Tracy's father, Wilbur.

I give the movie a 4 out of 5. If you like big hair, '60s dancing, teen girl rivalry and a little payback here and there, then "Hairspray" is for you.
