CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The National Weather Service could be investigating Sunday's reported tornado sightings around Letterkenny Army Depot, a weather service spokesman said.
A representative of Franklin County (Pa.) Emergency Services said the 911 center received calls about a tornado between noon and 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
"We had received reports of a funnel cloud there," said Craig Evanego of the National Weather Service in State College, Pa.
No one claimed a tornado had touched down, but wind damage was seen on the ground, he said.
Supervisors will decide this morning whether they want to send weather service representatives to Chambersburg, according to Evanego.
"The only reports we received were in Franklin County," he said.
Chambersburg-area weather watcher Jerry Ashway measured wind gusts of only 12 to 13 mph. The activity seemed to be in the Scotland, Pa., area, he said.
