Traditionally held in downtown Hagerstown, the boundaries for this year's contest are Hagerstown's Fairgrounds Park, which includes Reed Playground, the American Little League field across Valley Road and the Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex area. Fairgrounds Park is bordered by Mulberry Street, Cannon Avenue, Cleveland Avenue and Security Road.

The clues include close-up images of distinct parts of buildings, structures, parking lots, and athletic fields or courts. All the clues are within the boundary lines shown on the map at right and can be spotted by people standing within the boundary lines.

The Landmarks Contest began years ago with clues leading to recognizable buildings and structures downtown, but this year we we have searched for different clues and included some that aren't even on a building.

Pay attention to the details surrounding the clues in the photos. There might be more than one of that particular feature within the clue area's boundaries.

And don't forget to look up and down. Not everything is at eye level.

Identify the images and fill in the name of the building, structure, field, etc. ... on the numbered entry blank on this page. Include as much detail as possible about the location of the featured clue on the landmark, since we do not have street addresses this year.

The person or family who correctly identifies the most pictures will win $500. If there's a tie, one name will be randomly drawn from among the names of those who qualify.

This year, two runners-up also will get prizes. Both will receive a $30 gift card to AC&T and a Herald-Mail Sunday comics umbrella.

Check out the Lifestyle section in this week's Morning Herald and Daily Mail for hints to help you find the clues.

You're sure to get plenty of exercise looking for the clues, so wear comfortable walking shoes and bring bottled water. You might even want some sunscreen.

Answers must be submitted to The Herald-Mail by 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20. The answers and the champ's name and photograph will be published Sunday, Aug. 26, in the Lifestyle section.

Employees of The Herald-Mail and their families are not eligible.
