At least one person hurt in Fulton County crash

July 29, 2007

BURNT CABINS, Pa. - A single-vehicle accident on Thursday morning on Aughwich Road in Fulton County sent at least one person to a hospital, according to a Pennsylvania State Police press release.

Walter Eugene Bowman, 24, of 509 E. Catherine St. in Chambersburg, Pa., was southbound on Aughwich Road in a 1999 Ford Taurus at 10:25 a.m. when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on the wet road, police said. The vehicle went off the east berm of the road and struck two large trees, then spun back onto the road, police said.

Bowman was flown to Altoona (Pa.) Hospital with what police called moderate injuries. Bowman no longer was a patient there as of Saturday at 4 p.m., a nursing supervisor said.

A passenger, Jennifer Lee Walter, 20, of 33906 Great Cove Road in Burnt Cabins, was ejected from the car, police said. It wasn't known if or where she was hospitalized, but Altoona Hospital had no record of her there, the nursing supervisor said.

A 3-month-old girl wasn't injured, police said, noting the child was properly restrained.

Neither Bowman nor Walter was wearing a seat belt, police said.
