MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John "Albert" Butler, 92, of Martinsburg died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at his home.

Born June 28, 1915, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late George A. and Ida V. Linton Butler.

He retired from Corning Glass in 1980.

He served in the U.S. Army, during World War II.

He was a member of Middleway United Methodist Church in Jefferson County, W.Va., where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class.

He was a member of American Legion Post 14 and the UCT.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Pierce Butler; one daughter, Deloris Close of Martinsburg; one brother, Calvin Butler of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.


He was preceded in death by three sisters, Texie Butler, Susan Siler and Anna Belle Henry; and two brothers, Arthur Butler and Jim Butler.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at South Berkeley Funeral Chapel in Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Military graveside services will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
