Lugarda Faye Hawthorne Spigler, 85, of Hagerstown, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 16, 1922, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late William Hunter Hawthorne.

She was employed by Bikle's Shoe Shop, Pangborn Corporation and Western Maryland Supply.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, a member of Service Workers of the church, member of National AARP and The Hagerstown Chapter of AARP No. 623.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harry R. (Gabby) Spigler, whom she married Dec. 10, 1942; two daughters, Harriett Hinton and husband, David, of Fair Haven, N.J. and Roberta Wise and husband, Bill, of Marbury, Md.; sister, Eula Drenner of Hagerstown; three granddaughters, Amy Williamson, Jennifer Siciliano and Sarah Blozen; and six great-grandchildren, Evan, Charlie, Maggie, Ryleigh, Hunter and Makenna Faye.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ with Pastor Robert C. Royal officiating. Visitation and a reception will follow the service in the chapel room.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 201 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
