Man charged with armed robbery in mo-ped incident

A Hagerstown man was charged with armed robbery after a mo-ped was taken Wednesday from a North Burhans Boulevard parking lot, according to a Hagerstown Police Department press release.

Deanthony Lamont Warrick, 18, was charged with one count each of robbery, theft, second-degree assault and possession of marijuana, police said.

Police said they were called to the parking lot on Wednesday about 5 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery.

A man had a knife and allegedly stole a mo-ped from another person, police said. The man drove off on the mo-ped, but was stopped by an officer in the 600 block of North Prospect Street, police said.

Police said they found a butterfly knife on the man when they arrested him.

The mo-ped owner was not injured and got his vehicle back, police said.
