HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Anna Catherine "Cathy" Cantrell, 80, of Hedgesville, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born April 23, 1927 in Coldwater, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Irvin W. and Dora Ella Love.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenny Spurlock; and her second husband, Ellis Cantrell.

She attended high school and business college in Michigan.

She and her husband had owned and operated food concessions at West Virginia State Parks including Canaan Valley, Pipestem, Blackwater Falls and Cacapon state parks.

She was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

She was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60 Ladies Auxiliary of Berkeley Springs and Ladies Home Association of the Moose.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Willis Messner; one sister, Myrtle Gaskill of Marshall, Mich.; one brother, Ralph Love of Palmyra, Mich.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers.

Services will be today at 8:30 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs. Pastor Glen T. Stickler will officiate.

Private burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 11 a.m.
