WAYNESBORO, Pa. - On the condition that borough staff ensure it's legal to make a donation, the Waynesboro Borough Council on Thursday agreed to give $2,000 to Main Street Waynesboro Inc.

The nonprofit organization would then purchase light post banners to replace tattered ones downtown.

"I feel it's our responsibility to keep the town looking nice," Councilman Craig Newcomer said.

"I know these are in bad shape," Councilman Charles "Chip" McCammon said.

The organization is seeking a grant to allow it to regularly replace the banners in the future, Borough Manager Lloyd Hamberger said.
